Emy, Périfit and Elvie probes: connected perineal probes

What is a connected perineal probe?

A connected perineal probe is a medical silicone device to be inserted into the vagina (and/or anus) in order to measure the contractions of the perineum during perineal strengthening exercises. The information is transmitted in real time, via Bluetooth technology, to a fun application that offers exercises and analysis. Hence the fact that they are also called biofeedback probes.

Why use a connected perineal probe?

The perineal probe is one of the options that exist to strengthen your perineum , in particular in support of rehabilitation accompanied by a perineal rehabilitation professional. Professionals generally offer one rehabilitation session per week, while specialists agree that it would take between 3 and 4 exercise sessions per week to see real effects. This is why using a connected perineal probe to accompany your sessions is popular with many women. Emy probe, by Fizimed: the most fun

The Emy probe is developed by the French company, based in Strasbourg, Fizimed. This brand offers the Emy probe to support women in the rehabilitation of their perineum but also a portable breast pump and several menstrual and feminine hygiene products.

The Emy probe, developed in 2016, is manufactured in Portugal. It is the only one on this list to be manufactured in Europe and the brand highlights this particularity and recalls its ecological and sustainable ambitions. Rechargeable, the Emy probe is rigid and it is the largest and widest of the probes that we present to you today. The probe is delivered with its induction transport and charging case.

The Emy probe application is certainly its strong point! In addition to the personalized coaching program and fun mini-games offered by the application, it is full of information (podcast, videos and articles) on women's health.

Our opinion on the Emy probe

While we greatly appreciate the application of the Emy probe as well as the ecological commitments of the Fizimed brand that we share, we unfortunately like the probe itself less. Rigid and wider and longer than the others, it can be unpleasant to insert, especially after a traumatic childbirth.

Elvie probe: the most precise

The Elvie trainer probe was developed and is distributed by Elvie, a company of English origin registered under the name Chiaro Technology Limited. This company offers many high-quality technological products for women: portable and connected breast pumps, nursing pads, bouncers and smart cradles...

The Elvie trainer probe is made in China from medical silicone, without rubber or latex. It is rechargeable and has a long battery life (about 1 month for three sessions per week). Very small and flexible, it is very useful for supporting women who have had a traumatic birth. Interesting: a shell allows the probe to be increased in size, if necessary. The probe comes with its induction carrying and charging case.

The Elvie trainer probe application is very interesting due to its design and its personalized support which offers exercises with progressive difficulty. However, we can criticize it for the lack of exercises which makes it not very fun. The application only offers 6 exercises and no maintenance exercises.

Our opinion on the Elvie trainer probe

We really like the shape of the Elvie drag probe (its flexibility, its small size, its shell which makes it adaptable) but we find that its application lacks interest, as it is, due to the small number of exercises. The device is medical and not very fun which can affect your regularity on a daily basis.

Perifit probe: the right compromise

The Care and Care + probes of the Perifit brand are developed by the company X6 INNOVATIONS SAS, a French company domiciled in Paris. Created in 2012, the company develops connected products for women: connected perineal probes and a connected breast pump.

Perifit offers two connected perineal probes:

• The Perifit Care probe: this is the first probe distributed by the brand and its best-seller. Made in China in medical grade IV silicone certified without phthalates, bisphenol A and peroxide, it is rigid. It is not rechargeable and works from batteries, guaranteed for 5 years.

• The Perifit Care + probe: created more recently, the Perifit Care + probe is intended to be more precise than the Perifit Care probe. Made in China, it is also chiseled in medical grade IV silicone certified without phthalates, bisphenol A and peroxide. It is similar, in its flexibility and small size, to the Elvie probe and is well suited to women who have had more difficult deliveries and experience less sensation. A big plus: it has precise sensors that can judge the quality of a contraction in real time to allow you to modify your contraction. It is not rechargeable and works with batteries, guaranteed for 5 years.

The two perineal probes of the Perifit brand, Care and Care +, work on the same Perifit application. The Care + probe is more precise than the Care probe, however, some exercises are not available with the Care probe. Despite this limitation, the exercises are numerous and fun: more than 30 exercises, strengthening and maintenance, are thus proposed. We also like the mutual aid forum proposed on the application, allowing users to exchange.

Our opinion on the Perifit Care and Care + probes: Gapianne’s choice

At Gapianne, we believe that the Perifit Care and Care + probes are the right compromise between a quality perineal probe and an application that is both fun, playful and professional. We also appreciate that these products are, at present, the least expensive on the market.
