In this article, we offer a comparison of apps for tracking your menstrual cycles so that you can choose the app that best suits your needs.
Which menstrual cycle tracking apps should you choose? Which ones are free?
Want to know how long your menstrual cycle is and track it? You're 100% right. Here's a comparison of the best period tracking apps .
Clue ❤️❤️❤️
The Clue app , along with Flo Health, which we'll introduce to you shortly, is the flagship menstrual cycle tracking app. It's the most well-known and internationally popular app. Available on iOS and Android.
Our opinion on Clue
The Clue app is a very comprehensive application, whether for tracking your menstrual cycle or for conceiving. It does not include pregnancy tracking. Its symptom tracking is comprehensive and particularly easy to access: this is really its strong point. The app offers a premium version for a more precise analysis of your cycle at €9.99 / month , but this is not mandatory to take advantage of the app's features. It is also regrettable that the app puts a lot of emphasis on its premium version.
Its features
- French language 🇫🇷
- Cycle tracking
- Ovulation tracking
- Symptom tracking
- Calendar
- Advice and exchanges
- Analysis (Clue Plus offer)
Its plus: The tracking of symptoms throughout the menstrual cycle is very well done and the diversity of symptoms is significant. In the premium version, it is possible to have an analysis and prediction of symptoms.
Price: €9.99/month or €39.99/year (this makes it the most expensive app on this list)

Flo Health ❤️❤️❤️
Like Clue, Flo Health is largely a period tracking app . It's offered by an independent company, Flo, founded in 2015, whose primary business is period tracking. Available on the web, iOS, and Android.
Our opinion on Flo Health
The Flo Health app is a rich application, whether for tracking your menstrual cycle, for conceiving and tracking your pregnancy. Its tracking is intended to be holistic, going beyond the "simple" issue of period tracking (health, exercise, diet, etc.), which can make it intrusive and more complicated to use. We like its digital assistant that allows you to ask questions - although it in no way replaces a healthcare professional. The app offers a premium version to benefit from a more precise analysis of your cycle at €32.99 / year, but this is not mandatory to take advantage of the app's features.
Its features
- French language 🇫🇷
- Cycle tracking
- Ovulation tracking
- Pregnancy monitoring
- Symptom tracking
- Calendar
- Advice and exchanges
Its plus: The application offers a digital assistant that answers all your questions in real time. Although it does not replace a healthcare professional who is aware of your medical situation, it can help you reassure yourself in the moment and direct you to a professional if necessary.
Price: €32.99 / year

Ovia ❤️❤️(❤️)
Ovia is a company that offers apps for women's intimate health tracking. It offers two distinct apps: one focused on cycle tracking (Fertility, Cycle, Health) and the other on pregnancy tracking (Pregnancy & Baby Tracker). We'll discuss both apps in this review. Available on iOS and Android.
Our opinion on Ovia
The Ovia apps are two very comprehensive apps for tracking your menstrual cycle, conceiving (Fertility, Cycle, Health) and tracking your pregnancy (Pregnancy & baby tracker) . Their tracking is mainly focused on health and symptom tracking: the tracking is so precise that it can be worrying and overwhelming - it all depends on what you are looking for in your app. We like the fact that the app (Fertility, Cycle, Health) has developed a specific axis for tracking menopause. The app is completely free. Small downside: the app is not available in French, which can be a problem when describing your symptoms (that's what takes away a ❤️).
Its features
- Cycle tracking
- Ovulation tracking
- Pregnancy monitoring
- Menopause monitoring
- Symptom tracking
- Calendar
- Advice and exchanges
Its plus:
The app has developed a real offering related to menopause: tracking symptoms in the app, offering specific content and advice. It's the first app to take this approach, and it's worth noting!

Period Tracker (P Tracker) ❤️(❤️)
Period Tracker is a menstrual cycle tracking app developed by Tampax, a company specializing in menstrual protection. Available on iOS and Android.
Our opinion on Period Tracker
The Period Tracker app is a simplified application, specialized in tracking your menstrual cycle and assisting with conception. It has the advantage of being limited in options but still allows you to track your symptoms and fertility windows. Developed by Tampax, its strong point is a points system: the more you use the app, the more you contribute to donations for period poverty. The app is completely free. Small downside: the app is not available in French (which is what takes away a ❤️).
Its features
- Cycle tracking
- Ovulation tracking
- Symptom tracking
- Calendar
Its plus: We like the points system that encourages regular use of the app and encourages Tampax to make donations to menstruating people in periods of period poverty. It's clearly a brand PR move, but the idea is good!

MyCalendar ❤️(❤️)
MyCalendar is a very simple period tracking app developed by an independent company. Available on iOS and Android.
Our opinion on MyCalendar
The MyCalendar app is an app with a simple ambition: to make it easier to track your menstrual cycle and support a conception project. Immersed in a delicate design based on flowers and roses, it offers very few options but allows you to track your cycles, symptoms, and ovulation. A practical feature of the app: it allows you to program your Pill reminder. The app is completely free. A small downside: the app is not available in French (which is what takes away its ❤️).
Its features
- Cycle tracking
- Ovulation tracking
- Symptom tracking
- Calendar
Its plus: Very simple, the feature that allows you to schedule your reminder allows you to gather all these questions within a single app. We like it!
Price: Free

Natural Cycles (❤️)
Natural Cycles is an app offered by a company that offers connected and offline products for tracking ovulation, for hormone-free contraception, or as part of a conception project. Available on iOS and Android.
Our opinion on Natural Cycles
The Natural Cycles app is not a cycle tracking app per se. It is an app intended to be used to track the connected products offered by the brand to track ovulation (bracelets and basal thermometers). More than entering constants, it is more about determining your fertility window. While the app seems interesting for tracking ovulation with the goal of conception, especially if your cycle is not regular, we cannot recommend it for contraceptive purposes. Furthermore, the company's communication prevents us from rating this app higher: condoms and the pill are safer than contraception based on temperature measurement during ovulation (contrary to what the company claims). Small downside: the app is not available in French (which is what takes away a ❤️).
Its features
- Cycle tracking
- Ovulation tracking
- Calendar
Its plus: Its connection with the brand's connected products can help you determine your ovulation with the aim of conception.

FAQ
Can period tracking apps scale?
Menstrual tracking apps are designed to adapt to your menstrual cycle.
They are naturally aligned with a 28-day menstrual cycle when you first start using them because that's the average length of menstrual cycles. Then, based on the data and information you enter into the app, it adapts. After a few months, if you have a regular cycle, it will give you the date of your ovulation and the first day of your period, whether your cycle is 24 or 38 days long.
Please note: The period tracker app will have a harder time being accurate in its predictions if you have variations in your cycle length (beyond 2-3 days). In this case, you can rely on your symptoms to get an idea of when your first day of period will occur (if you are able to determine the day of your ovulation, your period will generally start 14 days later).
Why use a menstrual cycle tracking app?
Using a menstrual cycle tracking app is useful for:
- Detecting irregularities: Irregular menstrual cycles, or period disruptions , can be an indicator of underlying health issues, such as hormonal imbalances, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) , thyroid disorders, or other medical conditions. An app can help you track whether your menstrual cycles are getting shorter or longer .
- Take the mental load off: It's easy to record your cycle occurrences in the app, especially since you always have your phone with you. This is convenient whether your goal is to track your cycle or start planning a baby. You can consult a doctor with all your information on your phone without worrying;
- Anticipate your next cycle: Tracking apps adapt to your cycle. They learn: after a few cycles, they know your menstrual cycle and allow you to anticipate at a glance when your next ovulation/cycle will occur.
- Log your symptoms: Do you regularly experience a mid-cycle pinch? Do your breasts feel heavy? Do you feel irritable? A quick glance at your period tracker app lets you know where you are in your cycle and can help you gain perspective by reminding you that these symptoms are recurring for you!
Is it safe to use a cycle tracking app for contraception?
No. While a menstrual cycle tracking app will give you a clear idea of your fertile window and the days when you are most likely to get pregnant , it can be wrong—especially if your cycle is irregular or there is a temporary variation, linked to a stressful situation, for example. Therefore, we do not recommend using a menstrual cycle tracking app as contraception.
